Fire Alarms
Service
All fire alarm systems should be tested and inspected in accordance with either BS5839 Part 1 or BS5389 Part 6. The former Standard deals with installations in commercial buildings whereas the latter Standard relates to dwelling houses. Millennium Fire Protection can arrange regular maintenance of these systems to ensure their reliability and integrity. Please call for further information and costs.
Installation
It is vital when commissioning a contractor to install a fire alarm system that you are satisfied that they are competent to do so. Millennium Fire Protection have been successfully assessed by the Electrical Contractors Association's Fire & Security Group for the Design, Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems in Industrial, Commercial and Domestic Premises. We are also a Part P certificated company and are therefore able to undertake Design, Installation, Testing and Inspection of electrical installations in Domestic Premises.
Types of System
We can install a fire alarm system to suit your needs ranging from a mains powered smoke alarm system to a multi-loop analogue addressable system.
Conventional Systems - these systems give an indication on the control panel of an area or zone in which the fire signal has been generated. The control panels range from 1 to 32 zones and the higher specification panels have range of programmable features including global engineer's walk test, zonal timer delay, programmable outputs, non-latching zones and many other settings. These are also available as twin wire systems that only require one two core cable to operate both input and output devices for each zone.
Analogue Addressable Systems - these are sophisticated systems that allows the individual device that has caused a fault or fire signal to be displayed on the control panel. These systems use loops onto which the detectors, call points, input/output devices, sounders and other devices are installed. Each loop can then be divided into a number of zones as required by the software. Each control panel can have up to 4 loops and up to 16 control panels can be networked together - this would enable over 8000 devices to be fitted to the installation!
HMO Systems - Houses in Multiple Occupation frequently require a "mixed system". This usually requires a conventional type installation to cover the common areas and to extend into each flat entrance hall. Each flat is then fitted with a lower specification mains powered, interlinked smoke/heat alarm system to comply with BS5839 Part 6 Type LD2 Grade D. Millennium Fire Protection have installed numerous such systems for private landlords with specifications from councils such as Harrow, Hillingdon, Brent, Islington, Camden, Westminster and many more.
